Poker is a card game that requires a certain amount of skill and strategy. Within recent years, this in-person card game has branched out into the virtual world of the internet. People can log onto the internet and certain online poker sites and practice their game from people from all over the world. There are some definite differences between the online and traditional game, ranging from the rate of play to the strategy required. The rate of play online is much more rapid than when playing in person. People only have a certain amount of time to make a move before the game will continue without them, as opposed to traditional poker where players have a longer time allowed to contemplate their moves. Another difference between the two games is the fact that when playing online, you cannot see the other player’s faces. This affects a players ability to read their opponents. There are few tells online, whereas when playing face to face with your opponent, some players can often tell what type of hand they have by their facial expression or mannerisms. These two methods of playing poker are different in many aspects, but people enjoy playing both all over the world.
